SolarDuck, the Dutch-Norwegian cleantech company, recently secured € 15 million in funding for their Offshore Floating Solar (OFS) technology. This funding propels their mission to deploy 1 GW of offshore solar electricity by 2030. Impulse played a vital role in this process, advising SolarDuck throughout the entire fundraising journey. From the preparation phase (financial models, pitch decks, etc.) until the transaction phase (due diligence, negotiating deal terms, transaction documentation).
The global shift towards zero-carbon energy is hindered by land scarcity, making onshore solar expensive in densely populated areas. SolarDuck’s solution is scalable, affordable offshore floating solar technology designed to withstand marine conditions. They partnered with Impulse for strategic and financial support three years ago.
SolarDuck, together with Impulse, secured funding from investors including Katapult Ocean, Green Tower, Energy Transition Fund Rotterdam, and Invest-NL, who share their commitment to offshore solar power. This funding will support commercial projects and global technology optimisation.
SolarDuck’s success is a milestone in their quest to electrify the world with offshore floating solar solutions. Projects, including the world’s largest hybrid floating solar-wind plant, contribute to global sustainability and reduce land scarcity issues.
Exciting future projects include a 5MW demonstrator at Hollandse Kust West VII, Japan’s first floating solar plant, and an offshore project in Malaysia. “Merganser”, an offshore demonstrator, will launch in the Dutch North Sea soon.
SolarDuck’s funding success, aided by Impulse, signifies serious progress towards revolutionising offshore floating solar power, realising a cleaner, sustainable future. We’re proud to be able to support them.
