Supporting the silent revolution in sustainable technology.

A quiet cheer for GBM Works

The global shift to sustainable energy has placed offshore wind turbines at the heart of clean energy solutions. However, while these impressive structures harness ocean winds to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, their installation has uncovered an unexpected challenge. Traditional piling techniques generate significant underwater noise, disrupting marine ecosystems and creating an environmental paradox.

GBM Works has recognised this issue and turned it into an opportunity. Their naturally silent innovative solution replaces noisy, high-impact piling with a combination of low-vibration drilling and advanced water jetting. This approach not only reduces installation resistance but also minimises underwater noise, offering a beautiful win-win with nature. Clean energy generation without disturbing marine life? That’s harmony in action.

Supporting sustainable solutions

At Impulse, we are committed to supporting innovative and sustainable technology companies. Over the past months, we’ve worked alongside GBM Works, challenging their business case, developing a comprehensive pitch deck, and guiding them through the due diligence and transaction process. As a result, they have secured approximately €6 million in seed funding, positioning them to take the next step in their mission.

This round will fund the final developments of their technology, including the SIMPLE III offshore test which is co-funded by 13 trusted industry partners. Furthermore, early 2026 their technology will be commercially deployed in a full-scale pilot offshore at Hollandse Kust West, as part of Ecowende’s programme. For this project, GBM Works will install three monopiles using the Vibrojet® solution, proving that the future of wind energy can coexist with the health of our oceans. The silence of their operations speaks volumes about their dedication to sustainable energy and marine conservation.

Investors powering change

Behind this achievement is the confidence of key investors who share the vision for a quieter, greener future. Rotterdamse Havendraken strongly supports the project, while the EIC Fund, through the Horizon 2020 programme, is  also a proud backers. Additionally, Katapult Ocean has added its name to this inspiring initiative, and existing shareholders have reaffirmed their belief in GBM Works.

If this mission inspires you as much as it does us, let’s connect. Together, we can make waves for all the right reasons.
